LEXINGTON, KY. (April 8, 2025) – Earth Day may be April 22, but Lexington will celebrate the planet all month long. Join Parks & Recreation and the Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works for events and programs throughout April that encourage environmental stewardship and provide opportunities for residents to experience Lexington’s natural areas up close.
Parks and Recreation will kick off this celebration of our planet on National Record Store Day this Saturday, April 12, with a release of nature sounds from a Lexington park. This year, The Natural Sounds of Hisle Farm Park will be available as a flexidisc, a plastic disk to be played on a record player, at local Lexington record stores. This flexi features natural sounds from Hisle Farm Park along with sounds of activities you can find there, such as archery, horseback riding and walking your dog.
Starting on April 12, The Natural Sounds of Hisle Farm Park flexidisc will be available for free, in goldenrod yellow, while supplies last, at CD Central, 377 South Limestone; POPS Resale, 1423 Leestown Road; and The Album, 371 South Limestone.
Whether you’re looking for a volunteer opportunity, a fun craft event, a relaxing walk or even your own tree seedling to plant at home, we have you covered with a variety of events and programs throughout the month.
Some programs may have limited spots. Check lexingtonky.gov/calendar for more information on each.
