Godzilla Eats Las Vegas! at the
Lexington Opera House on Sunday, April 27, 2025
WHO: The Central Kentucky Concert Band is widely recognized as the premier, adult concert band in the Commonwealth, as well as one of the finest ensembles of its nature in the southeastern United States. Originally formed as the “Bluegrass Concert Band”, the name was soon changed to the Central Kentucky Concert Band as the ensemble began to attract players from throughout the Commonwealth, as well as southern Ohio and West Virginia. Today, the ensemble thrives as it boasts a membership united by a common love of music making.
WHAT: Centered around Eric Whitacre’s iconic piece of the same name, Godzilla Eats Las Vegas! is a free concert by the Central Kentucky Concert Band at the Lexington Opera House. This performance will also feature the music of Morton Gould, Gabriel Fauré, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jean Sibelius, and George Gershwin. This concert, supported by the Opera House fund, also marks the CKCB’s final concert under the direction of Dr. Ben Hawkins.
