Enjoy an English afternoon tea using vintage china and accessories that have been carefully curated over time to provide a unique and unforgettable dining experience with a Derby twist. The menu includes traditional tea sandwiches, savory bites and sweets with a Kentucky focus, and a specially crafted “trifecta” of hot and cold teas.
Not sure about the etiquette of afternoon tea? No, problem! There will be a quick and fun introduction into the history and etiquette provided by Mrs. Lisa Board of Elegant Life.
A special guest appearance will be made by Hall of Fame jockey, Pat Day, who will provide a meet and greet autograph session following the meal.
This year celebrates the 100th anniversary of American novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald’s masterpiece “The Great Gatsby.” Fitzgerald frequented The Seelbach Hilton while stationed at Louisville’s Camp Taylor during World War I and he referenced the historic hotel and other Louisville landmarks in this literary masterpiece. Attendees will dine in the Seelbach’s opulent Grand Ballroom, which is the backdrop for the wedding of the book’s iconic characters, Daisy and Tom Buchanan.
Following the event, guests will be have the opportunity to take a guided tour of the historic hotel led by author and Seelbach historian, Larry Johnson.
Derby attire encouraged. Proceeds benefit Louisville Recovery Community Connection, which provides resources and support for those in addiction recovery.
